Broadcast networks are definitely seeing the importance of digital-casting as we start to see all the major networks having some sort of news presence online. Reuters today reported that ABC News is breaking new ground by being the first to create an entire newscast specifically for the digital channel.

Although the daily 5-minute newscast is a separate production from the original “ABC World News,” ABC still kept many of the elements of the show including having Charles Gibson as the anchor.

Reuters’ reporter Paul J. Gough notes,

“Some of the pieces have a decidedly new-media feel to them. A correspondent recently shot a piece walking on the streets of Baghdad to explain what it was like to wait in line for gasoline and pay more than Iraqis are accustomed to paying. It was closer to a video blog entry than a traditional report.”

We did a search on PodZinger to check what is currently available from the major networks and found the following:

ABC

CBS

NBC

So, now if you missed the nightly news and need to learn the latest developments with the California wildfires or the fighting in Iraq, just Zing it!
